De La albums for me were always an event, particularly as a student of the music who enjoyed studying quality practitioners and how they execute their artistic statements. What I picked up specifically on this album (recognizably on the title song) was that Pos and Dave we’re seemingly NOT on the same page and even seemed to be digging at each other through the messaging of their verses – but in line with capturing sincere moments ‘of the Soul’ they had the creative wherewithal to commit that tension to record in the form of a song, rise above and ‘Grind’ out at that point in their journey because the bigger picture was the mission – regardless of industry bs or in house conflict, No one member was bigger than the program I liked that being the essence of the whole body of work. That’s where they were at and there’s no need to pretend. I’m of the Dave philosophy’:’F**k a ‘Rhyme Artist’…I ain’t in it for that / I was raised by the boom bap Respect my name…’
    Peace.
